If you think that this state is all desert and ranches and cowboys, think again. There is more to what the Lone Star State has. This state may even take you to breath-taking heights way up in the heavens, or let you feast on the best barbecue in the world, or let you feel the old west with the handful of ranches all over the state. This is Texas.
Houston, we have a problem. That was the most famous line ever heard from the Apollo 13 space mission, let alone any other space programs since this city is most famous for the lift offs of most space missions in the United States. You can head over to the southern area of the state and you see NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. This is considered Texas’s aeronautics crown jewel.
This by far is one of the two major launch pads in the United States, the other one is in Cape Canaveral in Florida. If you are into aeronautics, this is definitely the city for you. You can definitely be amazed with all the history of space travel known to man. Houston is also famous for the launch of the Apollo 11 lunar mission.
Sports are also popular in this state since it is also home to several famous teams. Just from the NBA alone, Texas is home to 3 major teams, 2 major NFL teams, and 2 MLB teams. Texas is also home to the Dallas – Fort Worth Metroplex. After enjoying these sports, you may be hungry as well. Texas is also very popular for barbecues because of the bounty of cattle all over the state. Although it is not just cattle that are a major produce in the state, farming is also well known all over Texas due to its large land area. If you savor some history, head over to the Alamo and see how less than 200 American soldiers help back an estimate of 4,000 Mexican soldiers.
But do not think that Texas is all about barbecues, technology, cowboys in boots and ten gallon hats, and history. Being situated in the southern part of the United States of America, Texas has one of the best beaches known all over the country located along the gulf coast? Although there are only a few beaches in the state, you can definitely enjoy the scenery around it. If you want shores that is way behind the modern world, head down to the Padre Island National Seashore, the most remote beach in Texas.
If you would like to hang out at the beach and have some yummy eats after a dip, head on over to Galveston Island. It offers a lot of beach going activities for the family. And if you would like a beach experience similar to being in the Florida Keys, South Padre Island can definitely replicate that.
Texas is not just about the Wild West with cowboys and sundown showdowns with outlaws. Modern day Texas can definitely amaze both one’s mind and senses, and that is what is great about Texas, the Lone Star State. |
