This is perhaps the state where you can get the best of Southern Hospitality. And this state perhaps may just be the birthplace of rock and roll, and so is its king. Yes, this is Tennessee, but apart from the country music and rock and roll, there is more to what this state can give and show.
For all the Elvis Presley fans, and pretty much fans of rock and roll will definitely groove to this state. Come over to Memphis and that is where you can find the home of the truck driver turn rock and roll legend. And if you are driving or strolling along Elvis Presley Avenue, you will encounter Graceland, home to Elvis Presley. This area has pretty much become a museum of the famous rock star legend. Once you enter the mansion, several rooms and areas would most likely make you relive Elvis’s lifestyle. A little bit more and you can see Elvis’ private jet on display as well. Memphis is just not all about Elvis Presley though, this is also where Martin Luther King Jr. received his Nobel Peace Prize, and also assassinated.
If you want more music, then we have to change the tone a bit. It is now time for some homegrown country music. This city is also the state’s capital. If you, and your kids watch Hannah Montana, this will perhaps remind you of it since its star actress, Miley Cyrus, and also her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, was born and grew up here. And you can consider Nashville the home of country music.
One of the more famous names do belong to Billy Ray, making some hits well known world wide. And while you’re here, you can also go visit some history as well, not just for music, but to the Athens of the South. You can visit the famous reproduction of the Parthenon from Greece.
But Tennessee is not just about music and kings of rock and roll, it also has its own share of attractions for the outdoor enthusiast. Tennessee also has its own trekking and trailing areas where one can enjoy outdoor recreational activities like hiking and camping. In every area of the state, whether he eastern, middle, or western part has its own national parks and trails. If you happen to be in the east, take a hike to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Hike further up north and you can reach the Clingmans Dome, the highest point in the area. You would also enjoy the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park and enjoy the view from Pinnacle Overlook. If you are in the middle area, that is where the Nashville can be found, and if you are in the western area, you can also locate Memphis and numerous rivers where you can perhaps enjoy a stroll along the banks or do a little fishing.
A lot of attractions can definitely keep you moving in this state, and if it is music that you love, it can also get you grooving. Southern hospitality, this is what is great about Tennessee. |
