But why is Superman with them? You guessed right, they all have their hometowns in the state of Illinois. But this state has more than presidents and superheroes. Let us all look around and see what is great about Illinois.

Illinois is located on the northern part of the United States of America known as the Great Lakes area. These are just some of the most famous sports teams in the state, and trailing along them are still numerous famous sports teams known in other sporting events.

Also making its name in sports, Illinois has been well known for motor racing. Being endowed with numerous race tracks like Chicagoland Speedway and Gateway International Speedway, these race tracks have been hosting NASCAR, CART and other famous races in America.

But sports are not just what this state is known for. Being home to one of the famous former U.S. presidents, Illinois also is home to several historical landmarks and museums. One of which is most well known as the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, if you would want to learn a bit more about a piece of American history. Do not think though that Illinois is just home to sports and famous US presidents. This state is also a home to world firsts, world record holders, and a superhero that can save the world. A few world record holders, you can see the world’s largest cross in the town of Effingham. Pay a visit to the home town of Robert Wadlow, the world’s tallest man ever, in Alton. If you are hungry for some fast food, just drop by Des Plaines for the first ever McDonald’s joint.

For the kids and kids at heart, there are more attractions abound. If you want to enjoy a little family fun, you will definitely enjoy in Six Flags Great America theme park. And if you would want to know more about the man of steel, you can pay him a visit down in the town of Metropolis, his hometown. And while you’re there, you can also drop by the Super Museum.
